#2 Minute Read.
Logic tells us that some information that we see on social media is absolute garbage and others can be fantastic. The difference between good content and poor content especially health related ones, can be difficult to seperate. Without fail, every week we see clients who always show us a TikTok or Instagram reel and often, are excited. 80% of the time, we have to advise against them for various reasons such as the information is not accurate, the authenticity of the creators are questionable and the advice given is not appropriate for the clients presentation.
It may seem like common sense that following ‘trends’ or health ‘tips’ without guidance of professionals may be harmful, nevertheless, it is something that is ignored. We are in the era that anyone and everyone is an ‘expert’.
Now this is not a blog ranting about the evilness of social media, it is more to educate what you should be looking for and how to recognise the right content to follow. Here are some key things to look for and to remember:
- Check the creators credentials NOT their follower count.
- Does their advice consider your physical abilities, symptoms, disabilities or injuries.
- Consult a professional in regards to any content that you may be following or trying.
- Can you cross-reference their advice with other reputable sources.
If you need advice with issues mentioned or you have any other concerns, feel free to contact us by email, phone, contact form or our social medias.
