Can you self treat ‘knots’?

Knots, also known as Trigger Points can occur for various reasons such as: trauma, posture, diet, exercise and others. So to answer the question, yes you can treat tigger points.

What is a Trigger Point?

Trigger points are hyperirritable spots located in the bands of muscles. Trigger points can cause immense pain, restriction in movement and weakness. Trigger points can be active, resulting in pain frequently or latent, which means they are present but without the symptoms.

– Here are some general advice that you can use:

  1. Feel the area over the muscle and try to find any sections which are painful, tight, and feel like a pea or lumps.
  2. Apply pressure over the area, gently increasing the pressure as tolerate. Hold for 10 seconds and then repeat.
